Wax On Wax off. Soy > Paraffin

Before I poured my first candle I was really excited & lucky to have the opportunity to dive into the world of scent as a novice, uncovering the various layers that form a luxury candle.

After testing out the best of the bunch, the rest of the bunch and a whole other bunch I could find, I formed my own definition of a luxury candle, a product that gives and takes equally, style meets substance without compromise.

Almost all in the market used Paraffin wax in their candles but I believe that sustainability is an integral factor of luxury. Wellness must be natural and so too must our ingredients.

Let's be transparent, over 90% candles today are made with paraffin wax which creates carcinogens (benzene and toluene), or in other words, the toxins released when burning paraffin candles are the same as those found in diesel fuel fumes and are linked to asthma, lung cancer and other respiratory conditions.  

Well thats a great question, I'm happy you ask.
As with most things it comes down to production costs, and in this case Paraffin wax is much cheaper to produce than natural, sustainable wax.

Another interesting factor is that it (paraffin) burns relatively faster (between 30 - 50%), meaning you'll be running through your candles much quicker. So what would you rather, a lasting experience or a quick fix?

NATURAL
Soy wax is a relatively new phenom, it was discovered as an alternative to paraffin wax and is a hydrogenated form of soybean oil. Soy wax is natural & extremely sustainable, we don't need fuel to produce it we can just grow more soybeans.

CLEAN BURN
Say bye to the thick smoke that you're used to seeing with paraffin candles! While no candles can promise to eliminate soot completely, it is important to reduce the amount of soot emitted. When compared to a paraffin candle, a natural soy wax candle will emit far less soot.
